Biography
Rachel joined BJ in 2018, along with her husband, Seth, after moving to the Upper West Side in 2017.
Rachel is a skilled strategic facilities planner. Her expertise is leading discussions and developing analyses to inform strategies and business operations and people-oriented decision making. She has a career’s worth of experience within major corporations and architecture and engineering firms. Currently, she is enjoying retirement and finding fun ways to fill her days.
Rachel participates in BJ’s annual Holy Rollers group and is a member of the Building Committee. In December 2022, Rachel started a project to photograph all the headstones at Beth Olam cemetery in Brooklyn. The cemetery is shared by BJ, Congregation Shearith Israel, and Shaaray Tefila. The project took 18 months to complete, and the plot records including the headstone photos are now accessible at Billion Graves and Find a Grave.
Rachel received a BS degree from Cornell University in Design and Environmental Analysis. During her junior year abroad, she met Seth while studying at Tel Aviv University.
Rachel and Seth’s move to the Upper West Side, after no longer needing to be in the suburbs, has been a dream come true—and BJ is a big part of that. Rachel and Seth’s daughter, Abby, is also a member of BJ. Their son, Solomon, lives in Boston, with his wife, Hannah, and their daughter.
