B’nai Jeshurun has been central to Leah Silver’s life from childhood through adulthood. She joined the Board of Trustees in 2021 and became president in July 2026. Prior to serving as president, Leah served as first vice president for three years and chaired both the Nominating Committee and the Rabbinic Search Committee, guiding an extensive and thoughtful process to identify BJ’s next rabbinic leadership.
In 2022, Leah chaired the post-pandemic “Back Home Shabbaton,” welcoming hundreds of members from near and far back to communal life at BJ. She also helped coordinate BJ’s Vaccine Volunteer Initiative, which secured COVID-19 vaccinations for thousands of vulnerable New Yorkers. Earlier, she served on BJ’s Jewish Identity, Belonging, and Community Task Force.
Beyond BJ, Leah works in education, where she develops curricula and mentors new teachers. Leah and her husband, Adam, were married in the BJ Sanctuary and feel deeply grateful to be raising their daughter within the BJ community.
