Julie and her family have been BJ members since 2006. She is chair of the Board’s Family Life and Learning Committee, served as co-chair of the Race & Us Committee and the Community DEI Committee, and served for many years on the Kadima Advisory Committee, and is a member of the Community Engagement Committee. She also co-chaired the search committee for the Director of Family Life and Learning, Mike Witman. Julie is an attorney and principal of Kowitz Margolies Mediation LLC, with a dispute resolution practice focusing on employment and civil rights disputes. Prior to becoming a full-time neutral, Julie was the Director of the Women in Prison Project of the Correctional Association of New York. She currently serves as the Vice President of the board of the New York Civil Liberties Union. She holds a BA from Columbia and a JD summa cum laude from Brooklyn Law School. Julie and her husband, Alex, live on the Upper West Side with their three children, Leo, Truman, and Imogen.
