Joel Kazis

Biography

Joel and his wife, Sara Nathan, joined BJ in 1993, with their then-young sons, Josh and Saul. BJ has been their spiritual community ever since. Joel and Sara each served six years on the BJ board of trustees and executive committee. During Joel’s prior tenure on the board, he played an active role in the purchase of the Community House building and dedicated many years to the Kol Nidre campaign. More recently, he served on the rabbinic search committee, culminating in the appointment of Rabbi Alex Braver, and currently serves on the BJ building-security committee.
Now retired after 18 years at Nasdaq, Joel enjoys spending time with Sara, his sons, daughters-in-law, and his two grandchildren. He is currently on the board of Plaza Community Chapel, where he serves on the executive committee and chairs the building committee, and is proud to have been active at DOROT for 45 years.
