Zionism: Borders and Boundaries
What does it mean to belong to “the Jewish community” right now? Over the last few years, many of us have found our assumptions about identity and community shifting in real time. Big questions are being asked about what it means – and what one must “believe” – to be included in Jewish communal life. Where are the boundaries of belonging? Who decides them? And how do we stay in relationship across difference?
As part of Aviv—BJ’s community for those in their 20s and 30s—this second session of Who Are “We”? invites you to join Rabbinic Fellow Iliana Brodsky for an open conversation about Zionism in 2026. Through text study and dialogue, we’ll explore how the political boundaries of the American Jewish community are shifting in real-time, and investigate what our tradition has to say about how and when to remain connected across political and ideological divides.
