Torah from Israel

Join us for a new Sunday morning learning program following Morning Minyan. Sessions will be led by a rabbi or a prominent partner or friend of BJ, who will teach a monthly Torah class live from Israel. Each class will touch on a different topic that has been carefully chosen by the teacher to create an opportunity for enrichment and learning.

This month, Dr. Rabbi Avital Hochstein invites us to look at the Torah with fresh eyes, teaching on the topic “Beith Midrash: The contribution of Feminist Reading to the Expansion of Torah”.

Dr. R. Avital Hochstein is President of Hadar in Israel, and a graduate of the Rabbanut Yisraelit Beit Midrash. Her research focuses on Talmud and gender. She is the co-author of The Place of Women in Midrash (Yedioth Ahronoth 2008), is one of the founders of Kehilat Shirah Hadashah in Jerusalem.
