Shabbat Together Retreat
Shabbat Together is a chance for families with students in 1st-3rd grade to celebrate an immersive Shabbat together outside of the city. Families with a child enrolled in Aleph (1st grade), Bet (2nd grade), and Gimmel (3rd grade) at Kadima have one student and one adult’s attendance included in their tuition. Families with children not in Kadima are warmly invited to attend.
Children are not permitted to attend the retreat without an adult. Additional guests are welcome for an additional fee.
The deadline to register is Thursday, October 16, 2025.
What time should we arrive?
We have the amazing blessing of spending an entire Shabbat together. In order to enhance that experience, participants must arrive at the retreat before Shabbat.
Arrival begins at 3:00 PM on Friday, November 14 and Shabbat and programming begins at 5:00 PM. Please give yourself enough time to arrive, park your car, check into your room, and unload your bags prior to candle lighting at 4:25 PM. In order to arrive by that time, assuming there is no traffic, you should leave the Upper West Side no later than 2:00 PM.
The retreat concludes on Sunday, November 16, at 11:30 AM.
Which staff members will be there?
Join Rabbi Rebecca Weintraub, Rabbi Deena Cowans, and members of the Family Life & Learning team.
How much does it cost for additional guests?
- 1 Kadima@BJ Parent: Free (Each Additional Parent: $450)
- 1 Kadima@BJ Child: Free (Each Additional Child: $300)
Is this open to all BJ families?
Shabbat Together is open to all families with students in 1st-3rd grade, and their family members. The retreat is a part of the Kadima@BJ curriculum and is included in tuition, and all members with students in these grades are encouraged to attend to get to know their grade cohort. Families who are not registered for Kadima@BJ can participate with a fee.
