Join us for the rededication of BJ’s Czech Memorial Torah scroll, one of 1,564 Torah scrolls rescued after the Shoah by the Memorial Scrolls Trust. Now known to be over 300 years old—older than BJ, and older than the United States—this remarkable scroll has traveled an extraordinary journey, from Jewish communities in Bohemia, through the devastation of the Shoah, to London and ultimately, to BJ.
Now following necessary care and repair, we’ll gather to celebrate the Torah’s rededication and the remarkable story it carries. The ceremony will bring its history and artistry to life, with reflections on its journey to us, an encounter with its handwritten text, and ritual and celebration marking its next chapter as part of Jewish life at BJ.
