Meet the Candidates: NY12 & AD69 Forum for the Jewish Community
Join us for a special Primary Election Forum on issues that matter to Jewish New Yorkers. Featuring back-to-back conversations with candidates in two of this year’s important races for our Upper West Side community and beyond. First, hear from the contenders for New York’s 12th Congressional District—now an open seat for the first time in nearly 35 years following Rep. Jerrold Nadler’s retirement. Then, stay to hear from candidates Stephanie Ruskay and Eli Northrup running for New York State Assembly District 69, (West 93rd–125th Streets and the area east of Amsterdam beginning at West 80th Street).
With many key elections on the ballot this June, this event focuses on the two races most directly impacting our community. Come ask questions, learn where the candidates stand on issues impacting Jewish New Yorkers and our communities, and help boost primary turnout.
The forum will be moderated by Michelle Goldberg, an opinion columnist at the New York Times since 2017. She was part of a team that won the Pulitzer Prize for public service for reporting on issues of workplace sexual harassment, and has also won two Front Page Awards from the Newswomen’s Club of New York for opinion/criticism and the Hillman Prize for opinion and analysis. Her first book, Kingdom Coming: The Rise of Christian Nationalism, about religious authoritarianism in American politics, was a finalist for the Helen Bernstein Award for Excellence in Journalism. Goldberg is an on-air contributor at MSNOW, and her work has appeared in publications including The New Yorker, The New Republic, The Nation and many others.
Registration for the in-person event will close one hour before the event start time. Walk-ins will be permitted, depending on capacity.
Doors will open at 6:30 PM, and we will start promptly at 7:00 PM.
This event is cosponsored by: Ansche Chesed, The Jewish Center, Kehilat Hadar Shaare Zedek, The Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan, National Council of Jewish Women New York, and West End Synagogue.
