In celebration of BJ’s bicentennial, the Micki Levin Concert Series presents this all-star musical tribute to the richness and diversity of Jewish music woven through BJ’s evolving spiritual life and the broader Jewish American experience.
This extraordinary concert gathers a multigenerational all-star lineup of artists whose voices and visions have shaped BJ’s musical spirit. Led by BJ Music Director Dan Nadel (guitar), featured performers in this concert will include Hazzan Ari Priven, Hazzan Yaakov “Yanky” Lemmer, Hazzan Raphael Frieder, Hazzan Basya Schechter, Rabbi Haim Ovadia, Maya Lahyani (mezzo-soprano), Frank London (trumpet), Daphna Mor (recorders, vocals), and Shira Averbuch, along with Ismail Lumanovski (clarinet) and Satoshi Takeishi (percussion).
From traditional hazzanut and Yiddish folk tunes to Ladino ballads, Sephardic piyutim, Israeli songs for modern-day prayer, along with BJ’s signature sound, Echoes of a Journey offers a sweeping and soul-stirring exploration of 200 years of Jewish music at BJ—honoring the past, embracing the present, and looking toward the future.
