Community Recycling Day
Give new life to old possessions! Clear your home of unneeded items while embodying the Jewish value of bal tashhit—a call to not destroy needlessly.
Stations will be set up on the sidewalk outside of the JCC (334 Amsterdam Avenue @ 76th St.) where you can recycle:
- E-waste with the Lower East Side Ecology Center (for a list of acceptable items, click here).
- Gently used spring and summer clothing for distribution to new immigrants
- Suitcases (in working condition) to be used by unhoused families moving to new shelters
- Unusable and out-of-season clothing and textiles with Green Tree Textile Recycling.
This event is co-sponsored by the Office of New York City Council Member Gale A. Brewer and the Marlene Meyerson JCC.
