Preparing to Pray: Entering Into Shabbat Services at BJ
Preparing to Pray is a half-day seminar that invites you to explore the beauty, depth, and spiritual richness of Shabbat prayer at BJ. Through guided learning with Rabbi Becca Weintraub, Rabbi Alex Braver, and Hazzan Ari Priven, we’ll engage with the themes, and melodies of Friday night and Shabbat morning services—uncovering how prayer works, why it moves us, and how it can open pathways to meaning and connection.
Over the course of our morning (and over brunch), we’ll explore the structure of the Shabbat evening and morning liturgy, delve into the meaning behind the words, and sing some of the melodies that accompany us through prayer at BJ. Whether you are new to BJ or to Jewish prayer, or are a regular seeking a renewed relationship with the siddur, you will gain tools, insight, and inspiration to deepen your experience.
The in-person seminar is open to BJ members only—registration is required, and will close January 28 at 12:00 noon. Registration is not required to join online—all are welcome.
