Gary Wingens
Biography
Gary and his wife, Helene, discovered BJ during the early pandemic while surfing YouTube for meaningful High Holy Day services. They were instantly hooked by the Yom Kippur Seder Ha’Avodah, so movingly led by BJ’s amazing clergy team—and they’ve been singing along ever since. They became members in 2022 while moving to the Upper West Side from northern New Jersey, where they raised their three sons (all now living in Manhattan).
Gary serves as Chair and Managing Partner of Lowenstein Sandler LLP, a national law firm with roughly 400 lawyers based in New York City. He also serves on the Executive Committees of The Jewish Education Project and the Victoria Foundation and is a longtime board member of KIND (Kids in Need of Defense). He is an alum of the Wexner Heritage Program and IJS’s Kivvun program, a past president of the Solomon Schechter Day School of Essex and Union, and a former Executive Committee member of the Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ.
A proud “sing-along Jew,” Gary is honored to help support the BJ community, which he and Helene now call their spiritual home.
