Many haftarot express some combination of rebuke of the people of Israel and anger at a sinful and broken world. Yet, while they call for a return to God and right-living, their imagery and language can be deeply challenging. Join the creators of the Haftarah Project–Rabbi Felicia Sol, Judith Plaskow, and Martha Ackelsberg–for a post-kiddush discussion of the Haftarah Project and the (paradigmatically) problematic haftarah of Bemidbar. Together, we will explore the challenge of how we can approach difficult texts.
