Guy Tsfoni
Biography
Guy Tsfoni was born and raised in Kibbutz Be’eri. He is married to Rabbi Chen Ben-Or Tsfoni (a former BJ rabbinic fellow), and they currently reside in Tel Aviv. Together, they are proud parents of three young adults (who were educated for three years at the Heschel School in New York).
Guy is a leading expert in developing community strategies, specializing in planning, training, and evaluating communities using social capital metrics and community-building processes. With over 35 years of experience in consulting and facilitating community development, Guy has worked with a broad range of organizations to strengthen community cohesion and resilience.
Following the events of October 7, Guy was asked by Kibbutz Be’eri to lead and support the community’s recovery and healing efforts. In addition, he initiated and currently directs the “Embraced by the Community” program (“Atufim Ba`Kehila”) — a regional initiative for communal rehabilitation and healing, supporting all the bereaved and orphaned members of the surrounding communities.
In the past, Guy was among the founding and leading team of the Midrasha at Oranim Academic College. He is a graduate of the Mandel Leadership Institute in Jerusalem. Upon completing the program, he returned to Oranim and founded Shdemot, the Center for Community Leadership, which he also directed.
In 2006, Guy and his family relocated to Manhattan, New York, for three years. During this time, his wife, Rabbi Chen, served as a rabbinic fellow at BJ, while Guy acted as the central emissary (Shaliah) Kibbutz Movement in North America and and their children attended the Heschel School. The BJ community became a warm and supportive home for the entire family and left a deep and lasting impact on them.
