Shira Levine
Biography
Spiritual leader of Kibbutz Hanaton community in the Galilee and director of the Communities Department at HaMidrasha at Oranim – Hechalutz, Shira is a graduate of the third cohort of Beit Midrash for Israeli Rabbis.
Born in Jerusalem, Shira Levine and her family are now part of the pluralistic community living at Kibbutz Hanaton. Shira grew up in a Conservative congregation in Jerusalem and was active in the Noam youth movement and Ramah summer camps. After her army service, she went on shlihut to the Jewish community in Melbourne, Australia.
Shira is an attorney, a graduate of the Law Faculty of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and holds a graduate degree in Talmud and Gender Studies from the Solomon Schechter Institute of Jewish Studies.
She leads lifecycle events and teaches and facilitates experiential Jewish education programs.
At HaMidrasha at Oranim Shira manages a variety of programs developing liberal communal life in Israel, including the project “The Human Spirit Grows Again”: spiritual cultural strengthening of 10 communities in the Western Negev.
