Nan Rubin, sister of BJ members Carol Smokler and Amy Foster, has been living with polycystic kidney disease for the past five years. Her need for a kidney transplant is imminent. The Talmud describes helping in any way to save a life as “pikuah nefesh.”

Come to Park Avenue Synagogue to meet Nan and hear Dr. Josh Sturm, director of outreach at Renewal, speak about the organ donation process. You may have the opportunity to have your cheek swabbed to identify a potential match. Light refreshments will be served.

This event is hosted by Park Avenue Synagogue in partnership with Renewal (renewal.org), a non-profit that helps locate donors and facilitates organ donation.
