5 Tips for Leading a Great Seder
1. Be Prepared
Here is a checklist of items you will need for your seder.
2. Foster a collaborative experience
There are two components to a seder: The storytelling and the food. It is really hard for one person to manage both aspects at once. And you don’t need to! We suggest you delegate. Assign parts of the seder to different people in advance and ask them to bring their own creativity to it. Turn your seder into a potluck making sure to explain your expectations around your household’s understanding of what it means for a dish to be kosher for Passover.
3. Practice the melodies
You do not have to be a great singer to infuse your seder with music. Listen to some of our favorite seder melodies and share this playlist with your guests leading up to Pesah so everyone has an opportunity to get into the holiday spirit and familiarize themselves with the sounds of the seder.
4. Be creative
The haggadah is masterful at guiding us through an immersive experience of the story of Passover using food, song, and ritual. Consider adding to the material in your haggadah with some of our favorite supplements.
5. Let’s talk
Don’t be shy. Add opportunities for guests to discuss the compelling and relevant themes of Pesah. Fostering thoughtful conversation makes the experience more personal and deepens the impact of this holiday. It also provides an opportunity for guests to learn more about each other.
