Sukkot
The holiday of Sukkot has always reflected a mix of emotions: a celebration of the harvest, and a recognition of vulnerability as the rainy season approaches. This year, these two aspects of the holiday seem out of balance with a heavier sense of vulnerability weighing on our hearts. Yet Sukkot remains Z’man Simhateinu—the holiday of our joy—and we will celebrate with community, which has been a great source of strength for so many of us this year.
The sukkah is a vulnerable structure, lacking the permanence of our homes—but its roof, the skhakh—is meant to remind us of the divine clouds of glory that protected our ancestors as they traveled through the wilderness. Join us for Sukkot this year, as we bring the joy and strength of communal celebration into our hearts.
