Democracy is not just something we have, it is something we do. It goes far beyond just voting in national elections every few years; it’s about active citizenship and engagement every day. Beyond the Ballot is a series of events and initiatives aimed at empowering you to find the ways you can do democracy in your own life.
Help BJ Become a 100% Voting Community
With primary elections already underway, we cannot reach our 100% goal unless every member of our community. eligible to vote is registered. (Did you know 15-17 year olds can even pre-register?)
If you or your child, or someone else you know will be attending a university or college outside of New York—or have a choice on where to register—during the election season and are unsure about where to register, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Kiana Davis or Kai Segall for advice or assistance
How to Get Involved
Learning
In the coming months, we’ll be providing many opportunities to get involved in strengthening civic engagement. Together, we can build a stronger, more inclusive democracy that reflects our values and protects our communities
And keep an eye out for more coming soon including a Faith in Democracy series with Shalom Hartman Institute, and opportunities to support voter registration on Rikers Island.
