Carol Gelles

Biography

Carol has been a BJ member since 1992. She started and ran the Wednesday night soup kitchen for 30 years, initiated breakfast following morning minyan on Rosh Hodesh, catered second-night seder with Rabbi Marcelo Bronstein for 10 years, and was co-chair of the Hevra Kaddisha for seven years. Currently retired, Carol was a food stylist and is the author of seven cookbooks one of which 1,000 Vegetarian Recipes, earned a Julia Child as well as a James Beard award. She has a masters degree in nutrition from NYU.
