Leader, To Bloom Again project at the Israeli Judaism Alliance at the Ministry for Diaspora Affairs

Ayala Wiezner

Biography

Ayala Wiezner currently leads the To Bloom Again project at the Israeli Judaism Alliance at the Ministry for Diaspora Affairs. The To Bloom Again project was born after the October 7 attack, and within the framework of which Israeli Jewish organizations accompany 53 communities in the Gaza envelope in the areas of culture and identity as tools for community resilience.

Ayala was born and raised on a kibbutz near the border with Lebanon, spending her childhood in a culturally rich community that fostered strong ties to Judaism and its traditions. It was only upon her arrival at the Rabin Pre-Military Preparatory School at the Oranim Seminary that she realized that her experiences in the community she grew up in were unique. When she became a student in Jerusalem, Ayala, along with several other graduates of the Mekhina, founded a community in the Kiryat HaYovel neighborhood. The community began as a group of students and became a community of families. The community engages in diverse social activities, learning, and shaping shared lifestyles.

Ayala has been involved in the fields of education, community, and Israeli Jewish identity for the past two decades, always in leadership roles (such as establishing a pre-military preparatory school in Jerusalem, managing a summer program, “Summer Seeds” for students, managing a department at the New Spirit association promoting community in the city, and for many years in the Bina organization, managing the Batei Midrash and Communities departments).

In the pre-military preparatory school year, she also met Noam. A few years later they got married, and today they are parents to Omer, Yonatan, and Nadav.
