Support Prayer, Music, and Learning

I always heard great things about BJ, especially its outstanding dedication to congregational participation, social justice, and Jewish music from around the world.Nancy Kaplan

I’ve never lived in New York City, let alone the UWS, but being active in the shul world for 40+ years first in Boston and then in Detroit, I always heard great things about BJ, especially its outstanding dedication to congregational participation (dancing in the aisles on Friday night, celebrating Simhat Torah in the street), social justice, and Jewish music from around the world.

Over the years, I bought and played BJ’s music CDs and wished there was a kehilla like BJ in my local community. But BJ is unique. It couldn’t be replicated. Then Covid hit. I swiftly connected with BJ online for Shabbat and festival services, lifelong learning classes, concerts, and more. Joining services online, I am inspired by the davening, the melodies, and the divrei Torah (by the rabbis, b-mitzvah kids, and guest speakers). The livestream (or watching the recordings on YouTube later in the day, if I attend services at my own local shul in real time) is not the same as being there in person, but it’s very meaningful all the same. Even from afar, I feel connected to the BJ community and appreciate what a strong (and expensive) effort it takes to produce that connection.

Please join me in supporting the powerful prayer, music, and learning that are so integral to the heart of BJ, so that everyone, no matter where they’re joining in from, can find meaning and joy in being part of this amazing kehilla and help bring it into its third century with renewed strength and purpose.

Thank you for your generosity. With your help, B’nai Jeshurun is better equipped to pursue its vision of a transformative spiritual community and a more just and peaceful world.

BJ proudly partners with Givebutter, an online charitable giving platform. Givebutter will appear on confirmation emails and bank statements in reference to your gift. All acknowledgements and tax statements will be issued by BJ.
