Israeli Authors—The World We Think We Know
BJ members, join us for a discussion on the exciting new book The World We Think We Know. According to the Jewish Book Council’s review, this debut collection of short stories displays the author’s “refreshing way with the raw stuff of life.” She evokes “awkward encounters, mismatched pairings, and sexy indeterminacies” that touch the heart and mind. A graduate of the Iowa Writers Workshop, Rosenfeld, who currently lives in Tel Aviv, “proves a reliably mordant observer of imperfect and vulnerable characters struggling with unfulfilled appetites and desires in language that constantly dazzles.” The stories take readers from the U.S. to Israel, and back again, to explore themes of war, adulthood, and family.
