Led by MMJCCM’s Rabbi Joanna Samuels, Romemu’s Hazzan Shimon Smith, and our new UWS Shaliah Itai Bar, this ceremony will provide a bookend to the haggim and transition into the commemoration of October 7 on the Hebrew calendar with music and poetry from the Israeli Yizkor service for October 7. In Israel, determined by the Knesset, and on the Hebrew calendar worldwide, October 7 is marked not on its secular date but its Hebrew date of the 24th of Tishrei (this year, October 16) as a day of mourning.

Riverside location to be shared with event registrants and community partners, rain location will be held at MMJCCM. This event will take place outdoors and will not be amplified; all songs and prayers will be offered with English translations.

Cosponsored by: B’nai Jeshurun, Congregation Rodeph Sholom, Hadar Institute, Romemu, The Selma & Lawrence Ruben Base UWS, The Shtiebel@JCC, and UWS Shlichut.
