Back to the Basics is back!

Have you ever wondered where our prayer comes from? Or what we are even praying about? How do our personal prayers relate to the words on the page? Rabbinic Fellow Alissa Platcow will help unlock the hidden themes and explore the dramatic arc of our tefillot (prayers) while sharing some essential tips for how to navigate services (where do I stand, when do I bow, and why?). Together—through a combination of sessions on Zoom and in person and up close in front of the Ark of the BJ Sanctuary—we will unpack the origins and choreography of our services, connecting with generations past and future in the words of our siddur (prayer book).
