She’s spent the past decade working in the Jewish social justice movement with teens through adults. Rebecca operates from a foundational belief that everyone is creative. She’s focused on bringing the creative process to all aspects of movement building and as a space for people to reflect on their connection to social justice\, identity\, and place. You can currently see her comics and illustrations published in Lilith magazine. \nCreative Writing with Joy Ladin\nIn this workshop\, we will use writing prompts—open-ended jumping off points for you to explore in any way you are inspired to—to kindle new ways of thinking about light in our lives\, and beyond. In this experiential session\, we’ll explore strategies and tools for realizing this potential in our own voices—as individuals and as communities—and weave together new melodies through a co-created collaborative process. \nDeborah Sacks Mintz is an educator\, practitioner\, and facilitator of Jewish communal music\, supporting those who seek to deepen their practice of empowered song and connective prayer.  As a musician\, Deborah has partnered creatively with a diverse array of voices in the Jewish soundscape; in addition to collaborating on over two dozen albums\, she released her debut record of original spiritual music\, The Narrow and the Expanse\, in 2020 on Rising Song Records. Beloved ongoing artistic projects include Rabbi Josh Warshawsky’s Chaverai Nevarech\, New Moon Rising with Elana Arian and Chava Mirel\, and Joey Weisenberg’s Hadar Ensemble. SUMMARY:Restorative Yoga with Aviv: Renewing Our Bodies and Mind
DESCRIPTION:Looking for a way to destress\, get better sleep\, and connect with yourself all while keeping social justice at the forefront of your mind? Come join fellow 20s and 30s for a decolonizing restorative yoga event! This event will teach us how yoga and wellness have been co-opted and colonized by the west\, and how we can partake in these crucial practices while honoring the roots of yoga. After a brief learning session\, we will partake in a 60 minute restorative yoga session led by yoga instructor\, Melissa Shah. Restorative yoga is slow\, calm\, and is something everyone can partake in and feel good about\, regardless of prior experience. \nAttendees of this event will also receive 25% off Melissa’s Find Your Breath Library subscription\, as well as a list of follow up resources curated by Melissa. \nRegister Now\nPlease note that this event will be taking place indoors in the main sanctuary. This is a large space that has had internal work done to create maximum air circulation. Windows will be open\, social distancing will be implemented\, and proof of vaccination and mask wearing will be mandatory. \nMeet the Instructor \nMelissa (she/her) is a Gujarati-American yoga therapist who skillfully adapts yoga and Ayurveda to the individual. She believes that yoga doesn’t need to be stripped of its culture and history in order for it to be palatable and beneficial to others. She is deeply interested in the intersection of yoga and social justice\, and works to make feeling well accessible to all\, but especially those who are often left out of the wellness conversation.

Anyone who has yet to receive a Covid-19 vaccination is welcome.  \nNo appointment or pre-registration needed!
