SUMMARY:BJ Teen Environmental Justice Campaign Call-athon
DESCRIPTION:This year\, the BJ Teen Tzedek Project is Environmental Justice. We have spent the year learning about\, reflecting on\, and acting towards Environmental Justice\, specifically in New York City. Teen workshops\, expert panels\, and nights of action have helped us to understand more about the danger of Environmental Racism and our responsibility as Jews to combat it.  \nAs a culminating piece\, we are raising funds for two organizations in New York City that are doing the important work to address this issue. We urge you to donate to WeACT and the New York City Environmental Justice Alliance. \nJoin the BJ Teens as we learn how to fundraise for these organizations at the BJ Teen Environmental Justice Campaign Call-athon. \nRegister Now

SUMMARY:Israeli Authors Discussion Group
DESCRIPTION:Every first Thursday of the month\, this group will discuss a book written by an Israeli author\, facilitated by BJ members Carole Balin and Jennifer Sylvor. What a list we have for you this year! This group is drop in; the Zoom link is applicable for the entire series\, so join us each month as your schedule allows. \nRegister to Join Us on Zoom\nHot off the (translated) presses\, Aquarium is an incredible story of two Deaf sisters\, raised in seclusion by Deaf parents\, and the shattering consequences that unfold when that isolation comes to an end. Sly\, surprising and as sharp-fanged as its protagonists\, Aquarium has been called “a stunning debut that interrogates the practices of storytelling — and storyhearing.”

SUMMARY:Congregations Building Bridges
DESCRIPTION:Americans today are deeply divided. As the Commission on the Practice of Democratic Citizenship recently noted\, “When Americans are asked what unites us across our differences\, the increasingly common answer is nothing.” Nowhere has this seemed more true than when it comes to religion. Religion has played a crucial role in promoting conflict and polarization\, yet religious communities are an essential part of bridging current social and political divides. \nThis panel of religious leaders and experts intends to foster thinking about ways that religious communities might become spaces that bridge divides\, rather than make them deeper—bridge building that is located in a larger sense of civic engagement and community. The panel is inspired by the recent report published by the Commission convened by the American Academy of Arts & Sciences\, “Our Common Purpose: Reinventing American Democracy for the 21st Century.” \nRegister Now
