DESCRIPTION:We understand that conversations surrounding security and the police can be challenging\, emotional\, and even tumultuous at times. The relationship that people of color\, particularly Black and Brown folks\, members of the LGBTQ+ community\, and other marginalized identities have with the police is extremely complicated due to centuries of violent police brutality.  \nWith this reality in mind\, we are looking to provide a space to gather and connect with folks who hold identities that have a history of being targeted by police violence. As we strive to be a holy community that feels safe and secure for all who enter our home\, we know that dialogue and understanding each other’s perspectives is critical. Conversations like these have been a part of our effort this past year to engage these questions with our community\, and we hope that many of you will join us for this conversation in our larger process of understanding true community safety. This year’s show is Hai School Musi-Spiel\, based on Disney’s beloved High School Musical. Register before winter break and submit your video audition to Emma by email. No prior performance experience necessary; fun guaranteed!  \nRegister Now\nRehearsals will be held on Zoom in January and February on Sundays with some additional rehearsals after school on Tuesdays and occasional other weekdays. DESCRIPTION:Are you interested in running for the BJ Teen Executive Board?  \nThe BJ Teen Executive Board elevates and advocates for the BJ Teens and collaborates to continue to improve the BJ Teens Program. They strive to be role models for incoming BJ teens and younger generations\, by showing up and through their actions\, they model what it means to be a Jewish teen at B’nai Jeshurun\, specifically in the transition from B’nai Mitzvah to the BJ Teens Program. They create a safe space for BJ Teens to come together for holidays\, Shabbat\, group learning and trips\, tikkun olam\, and fun. Join Dena Weiss as we explore this theme from the sixth and final chapter of Pirkei Avot. \nRegister Now\nDena Weiss is Rosh Beit Midrash and Senior Faculty at Hadar\, where she teaches Talmud\, Midrash and Hasidut. Dena earned a BA in Religious Studies from New York University and an MA in Theology from Harvard Divinity School. She has studied and taught in a variety of Jewish educational settings including Drisha\, Midreshet Lindenbaum\, and Pardes. She currently serves as the editor-in-chief of the Mima’amakim journal of Jewish religious art.\n \nThis is the sixth session of a six session series. Explore the other sessions on our website. \n
