SUMMARY:Midnight Run with the BJ Teens
DESCRIPTION:The BJ Teen Executive Board is excited to announce our upcoming Midnight Run on February 4! We’ll have dinner and havdalah\, a short learning session\, and then we’ll pack up our cars with donations. Then\, we will head out in cars to make stops throughout the city to give out the supplies to those who need it.  \nMidnight Run is a volunteer organization based in New York City that is dedicated to finding common ground between the housed and the houseless. Midnight Run is one of many groups that participate in this amazing mitzvah of distributing food\, clothing\, blankets\, and personal care items to the houseless community of New York City.  \nWe need your help with donations! This month we are asking you to purchase items from our Amazon wish list. \nIn addition\, any donations\, including adult-sized t-shirts\, sweaters/long-sleeve shirts\, sweatshirts\, pants\, coats\, and blankets are appreciated. Please do not donate children’s clothing\, swimsuits\, or any dirty/used items. \nDonations will be collected Tuesday\, January 31\, and Thursday\, February 2\, from 4:00-6:00 PM at the entrance of the BJ Community House on 89th Street. There will be a large\, clearly marked box where you can drop off your items. \nRegister Now

SUMMARY:Aviv Giving Circle
DESCRIPTION:The Aviv giving circle is returning for its second year! A giving circle is a group of people who pool their charitable donations and decide together where to allocate their money. We will gather to learn and discuss Jewish perspectives on charitable donations\, then collectively decide where to give our money. This year\, we are focusing specifically on needs within New York City. \nThis is an opportunity for a small group of 10-15 Aviv folks to come together over the course of 2 months (1 session every other week from Wednesday February 1 to Wednesday\, March 15) to build community with fellow Aviv members\, discuss giving and social justice priorities\, pool resources\, and make a charitable gift to an organization of the group’s choosing. \nParticipating in a giving circle comes with a financial expectation. We understand that everyone’s financial situation looks different and what every individual is able to give may vary. The minimum requirement for this giving circle is $180. \nThe Aviv giving circle will be facilitated by Community Engagement Program Coordinator Margaret Piraino\, Social Action/Social Justice Manager Kiana Davis\, and Marshall T. Meyer Rabbinic fellow Alissa Platcow. \nExpress interest

SUMMARY:Israeli Politics Discussion Group
DESCRIPTION:Until recent years\, a sole member of the Knesset (Israeli parliament) was a member of a flock. Beginning in the 1990s\, we began to see more members of the Knesset who acted as lone wolves among their parties. \nWhy did this transition occur? When did it happen? Are there any options for the parties to enforce sanctions on the rebel members? \nJoin Kobi in a conversation where he will provide a historical perspective\, and his thoughts on the present and future. \nRegister Now
