Reimagining the Ethical Will: Life on the Page

In this lively, honest, and visually stunning conversation, artist and author Nancy Patz and her daughter, founding board chair of Reimagine End of Life, psychologist Dr. Jeannie Blaustein, will share an innovative way to convey your values to your loved ones. While some may choose to write a traditional Ethical Will to communicate ethical values, principles, and life lessons to loved ones, an Ethical Will doesn’t have to be a “document!”

What is the best way for YOU to share? Let Patz’s exquisite art and candid recollections inspire you to reimagine this important opportunity to connect with your loved ones the power of your own life story—in whatever way is right for you.

By creating an Ethical Will, you are giving your family a deeply meaningful gift that they, and future generations, can learn from as they remember your life and your stories.

  • What are the values you’d like them to carry forward?
  • What are the experiences in your life that have helped shape you?
  • Who in your life would you like to share these with?

Following the mother/daughter conversation about Patz’s memoir, the session will include a Q&A and breakout rooms for you to begin considering how you might create your own legacy gift for your loved ones, and why it matters to do so.

This event is part of our Community Offerings Series and What Matters.

Nancy Patz, a lifelong writer and artist, is the author and illustrator of 13 published books, some for children and others delving deeply into Holocaust themes and imagery. Her recent memoir, Life on the Page: A Graphic Memoir, drawn primarily from her 92 sketchbooks is chock-full of wisdom and life lessons for her grandchildren. This visual feast will delight and inspire you to consider how you might share what matters most to you with those you love.
